Solutions to the most complex problems most commonly arise at institutions with the necessary resources. The University of Toronto is where leaders are made, where ideas are tested and where solutions are found.

Temerty Medicine is unmatched in its breadth and reach – spanning the fundamental health sciences, clinical medicine, rehabilitation sciences, translational research and health systems. We also regularly work with donors on meaningful philanthropic opportunities tied to specific health conditions (such as cancer, neurodegenerative disease, etc.) or in support of particular patient populations.

Research: Driving Discovery and Innovation

Research has been central to every medical advancement of the last century. As we look to the future, support for research is more important than ever, especially at a time when governmental and other research funding is increasingly limited.

Temerty Medicine is a research powerhouse whose community of skilled faculty members and learners are expanding understanding of the human body and disease, while also improving patient care quality and safety. A balance of both immediate catalyzing support, as well as long-term and sustainable funding is the lifeblood of this work.

Support for named chairs and professorships is essential to attracting and retaining the most highly-skilled faculty members — the individuals responsible for shaping the future of their fields. Gifts in support of faculty provide long-term funding that can fuel new or continued excellence in a particular subject or specialty.

In addition, support for new research grants help bring together scientists from across Toronto to collaborate on the most pressing challenges, and can also support scientists in the critical early stages of their most promising investigations.
