Applied Mindfulness Program for Medical Personnel (AMP-MP)
About the Program
Participants will experience an innovative mindfulness program focused on building wellbeing competencies based on the teachings of international scholar, Nobel Peace Prize nominee, and Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. This is a unique opportunity to explore mindfulness as a pragmatic modality, rather than in a clinical intervention, which can be immediately applied to the physician’s personal and/or professional life.
This program is part of our ongoing work to examine pragmatic approaches to addressing clinician wellness, with a specific focus for physicians who work with, or are members of, underserved communities. Registration is limited to physicians; however, we plan to expand this offering in the future to include clinicians, scientists, and researchers from across the Faculty, including status-only faculty members.
Why join AMP-MP?
There is a growing concern across healthcare delivery systems in relation to clinician/academic researcher wellness. We know that leading/working through times of uncertainty and change can take a toll. A critical gap remains in knowing how to best support clinicians/academic researchers in their role, and the impact that this support can have not only on you as individuals, but on the function of the organizations in which you work and communities you serve.
This is an opportunity to be part of the growing national and international conversation regarding physician wellness, which has been empirically shown to impact the quality of patient outcomes and is a key element of well-functioning healthcare systems. It is also an opportunity to be trained in Applied Mindfulness.
Time Commitment
This study involves participating in the five-week training program which will run for two hours each week. In addition to the training program, you will be asked to participate in a brief post-program interview.
Prior to the program starting, you will be sent a package that includes some short study administration forms (including a consent form), along with some validated measurement tools and a social demographic questionnaire.
