Summer Mentorship Program Application

Thank you for your interest in the Summer Mentorship Program (SMP). Please review the following information carefully before you begin your application.

  • The program runs from July 6 to July 31, 2026, and you’ll need to be available for the entire time. Our summer program is full of engaging schoolwork, fun activities, and exciting experiences that require your full attention. To help you get the most out of it, we ask that you do not enroll in any other summer courses or programs—whether in-person or online/asynchronous—while participating.
  • March 29, 2026 - Final application Deadline
    April 1-2, 2026 - Messages will be sent to set up interviews
    April 11-14, 2026 - Interviews
    April 20-23, 2026 - Admission offers emailed
  • If your final transcript is not ready at the moment, you can attach your current transcript and if you are accepted into the program you can then send your most updated transcript before the start of the program.
  • You must provide a personal email address that you can access regularly.  Please ensure your email address is correct before you submit the form because we will use this to communicate with you. A copy of the application will be sent to the email address that you provided in the SMP application once it is complete. Please contact smp.outreach@utoronto.ca if you have not received a copy of your application immediately after you complete the form.
  • The information that is collected from this application will not be shared with any other university departments or external contacts.  The information that we collect is used to consider your eligibility for Summer Mentorship Program.

The Summer Mentorship Program was created to help address concerns about the under-representation of Black and Indigenous people within the health sciences. In the SMP, high school students who self-identify as Indigenous or Black African, Black Caribbean, Black North American, multi-racial students who have and identify with their Black ancestry, or students that face financial barriers, are given the opportunity to explore health sciences at the University of Toronto.

SCHOOL & ACADEMIC RECORD

You must have completed Grade 10 Science course in the academic stream or have completed any Grade 11 science course either in the university (U) stream, university/college (M) stream, or the college (C) stream to be eligible for the SMP. A course from one of these categories must be visible on the transcript that you submit. Please note that a Provincial Report Card is not sufficient for this application. Please email smp.outreach@utoronto.ca before submitting your application if your current transcript does not reflect a credit from one of the accepted  prerequisite courses.
