Office of Indigenous Health

The Office of Indigenous Health is committed to supporting learners, faculty, and staff throughout the education continuum. Our role involves identifying the necessary resources and providing Indigenous leadership, with the goal of creating culturally safe learning and working environments where Indigenous knowledge is both respected and valued.

We work to further Indigenous Health Education by:

  • developing and supporting Indigenous programming across the medical and health professions education continuum for learners seeking knowledge about Indigenous concepts of community, health and healing;
  • developing curriculum around Indigenous concepts of health and healing;
  • creating a culturally safe learning environment for all Indigenous learners, faculty and staff;
  • undertaking Indigenous community outreach.

Admissions pathway for aspiring Indigenous medical students.

Financial resources and support for Indigenous students.

Our office addresses interpersonal and systemic racism across our three campuses in collaboration with the Office of Inclusion and Diversity.

We provide opportunities for Indigenous students and learners with valuable mentorship and support based on Indigenous perspectives in collaboration with the Office of Access and Outreach.

Orange Shirt Day and National Day for Truth & Reconciliation Commemoration

 

Honour the experiences of residential school survivors by joining a University-wide event to commemorate Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation. Students, librarians, faculty members, and staff can register to attend this event in person or watch the live stream.

The commemoration is being held in the Great Hall at Hart House (7 Hart House Circle, Toronto) on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:30 am.
