Ways to Give
Everyone's philanthropic goals are different. We are happy to help you find the best fit — an area you’re passionate about and a giving arrangement that suits your goals.
Whether you choose a monthly or annual giving pledge, plan to give a legacy gift through a bequest or retirement fund, or a major gift to establish a named scholarship or catalyze research — your contribution will support the Temerty Faculty of Medicine’s commitment to improving health.
Philanthropic Investments
Throughout our history, community members have chosen to make generous gifts in support of our Faculty’s programs, research and students. These gifts can be made in support of existing funds, or to establish new endowed or expendable initiatives (which may be named in honour of the donor).
Annual and Monthly Giving
Temerty Medicine's community of alumni, faculty and friends provide vital support every year for the Faculty's programs, research and students. Every year, dedicated supporters contribute to the vital education and research that is improving health care.
Tribute Giving
Together with friends and family, you can establish a named scholarship or fund to honour an individual who has made a significant impact – or whose contributions have been especially meaningful to you. This can ensure a lasting impact and can bring a community of family and friends together around a common goal.
For an example of Tribute Giving, read the story behind the Dr. Samuel Leitenberg Award for the Humanitarian Practice of Family and Community Medicine.
Class Giving
Alumni often choose to support the Temerty Faculty of Medicine together with their classmates through our Class Giving program. Class funds can be established in the months leading up to graduation, for a milestone reunion year or at any other time. Class funds can support a specific program or research initiative, but most commonly support students through awards and/or bursaries.
For an example of Class Giving, read the story behind the MD Class of 8T0 Award.
Estate Giving
Giving through your estate allows you to make a significant impact in improving health care, while receiving tax benefits that, in some instances, can reduce the out-of-pocket cost of each gift significantly. These can include gifts of bequests, retirement funds, stocks and securities, gifts-in-kind, charitable remainder trusts, gifts of residual interest and life insurance. Sample text for general bequests to Temerty Medicine can be viewed here.
International Gifts
Not a resident of Canada? You can still support the Temerty Faculty of Medicine’s work. And if you are based in the U.S., you may be eligible for a charitable receipt for your income tax returns.
