Dr. Jessie Baptiste is Cree from Little Pine First Nation, Saskatchewan, and currently serves as the Indigenous Health Theme Lead in the MD Program at Temerty Medicine (appointed September 1, 2025). She is also a General Internist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
Dr. Baptiste earned her medical degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2008, followed by an Internal Medicine residency (2011) and General Internal Medicine subspecialty training (2013) at the University of Alberta. She brings extensive experience in medical education and leadership, having chaired the UGME Year 4 Curriculum (2016–2018), served as Program Director for Internal Medicine (since 2021), and led curriculum transitions at both UGME and PGME levels. Nationally, she contributed to the Medicine Pathways Taskforce and previously served as Administrative Lead for the Department of Indigenous Health at the University of Saskatchewan.
