Alumni Awards

Our alumni are making a difference as health care providers, researchers, professors, decision-makers, volunteers and committed community members. A network of more than 71,000 health-care leaders that includes graduates of our graduate and life sciences, rehabilitation sciences, radiation sciences, Physician Assistant, MD and MD/PhD programs, as well as former residents and fellows — we make a collective impact that's worth celebrating.

Below you will find some internal Temerty Faculty of Medicine and University awards that recognize members of the alumni community.

Arbor Awards

Arbor Awards

The Arbor Awards recognize the tremendous generosity and volunteerism of our U of T alumni and friends. Our volunteers personify the very best attributes of the University’s motto, Velut Arbor Aevo – “May it grow as a tree through the ages.” Their work represents both our roots and our branches, which have served to anchor our traditions and spread the mission of this University – to meet global challenges and prepare global citizens.

Rose Wolfe

The Rose Wolfe Distinguished Alumni Award

The Rose Wolfe Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes exceptional individuals who demonstrate outstanding achievement in their professional lives, dedication to civic, charitable and social causes, and extraordinary service to the University of Toronto, in a way that enables or inspires others to reach their full potential.

This Award is among the highest honours the University of Toronto and its Alumni Association (UTAA) can bestow on individuals whose extraordinary contributions embody the values and principles championed by Dr. Rose Wolfe. Award recipients are individuals of exceptionally distinguished achievements whose work or contributions to society illustrate the ideals of the University of Toronto and contribute to its mission.

Carl Mitchell

Carl Mitchell Community Impact Award

Established by the University of Toronto Alumni Association (UTAA), the Carl Mitchell Community Impact Award recognizes alumni who advance the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) through their extraordinary volunteer contributions to the community at large.

The award originated in 2015 as the UTAA Alumni Award for Community Engagement. It was championed by UTAA past-president Carl Mitchell to celebrate “everyday heroes” — alumni supporting the community through grassroots volunteer activities. Following Carl’s passing in 2016, the award was renamed in his honour.
