An annual mental health fair, Mindfest raises awareness about mental health and battles stigma by encouraging discussions about mental illness, proudly brought to you the University of Toronto Department of Psychiatry, Jack.org, and the Dr. Zofia Pakula Social Justice Fund. All sessions are free and open to all.
This year's sessions include:
- Sports broadcaster Michael Landsberg speaks about his mission to show the world that mental illnesses are sicknesses, not weaknesses.
- A Jack Talk, a mental health presentation delivered by young people for young people presented by Jack.org.
- Dr. Chika Stacy Oriuwa speaks about leadership, advocacy, and navigating spaces with a history of marginalization.
- Kierston Drier, founder of the Bathroom Stall Project, speaks about caring for yourself when mental health care is inaccessible.
- Psychiatrists Dr. Daphne Korczak & Dr. Jennifer Crosbie speak about the pandemic's impact on the mental health of children and young people.
- Dr. Nikhita Singhal speaks about how her experiences as a patient have shaped her approach to psychiatry and mental health care.
- Jack.org presents two workshops on social media and self care.
