Mentor 2 Mentor Capacity Building for Principal Investigators

The Mentor 2 Mentor program (M2M) is a capacity-building initiative for Principal Investigators. This initiative is led by the Community of Support RASI (Research Application Support Initiative) in collaboration with Dr. Andrea Boggild (Boggild Lab). RASI is an initiative designed to help COS members at various stages of research progress their research productivity ultimately to pursue their educational and career goals.

The goals of this 3-month training workshop series is to build Principal Investigator comfort and fluency in the following pillars underpinning the advancement of EDIIA (Equity Diversity Inclusion Indigeneity Accessibility) within research spaces:

  1. Ground setting and introduction to logic model framework
  2. General approaches to maximizing opportunities for learners across academic levels (i.e., creating more roles for learners)
  3.  Modelling successful apprentice relationships in the academic and clinical environment
  4. Strategies to facilitate sponsorship of learners historically underrepresented in STEMM
  5. Building a research culture of safety, inclusion, and equity that capitalizes on diverse human resources
  6. Tips on funding your EDIIA initiatives
  7. Identifying more EDIIA-enabling actions
  8. Building a supportive community of practice for PIs invested in this work

Participants will have the choice to participate in either the synchronous or asynchronous sessions.

The synchronous sessions will consist of 8 live sessions in-between February and April, with approximately 15-20 participants, led by moderators.

The asynchronous sessions will consist of 2 hour sessions between February and April, with recorded materials and slides shared ahead of each small group session (approximately 5 participants), led by a facilitator. The group meeting times will be determined by participant and facilitator availability.

Note: preference for researchers that are participating in the RASI program.
