The Temerty Faculty of Medicine Research Office maintains a directory of prestigious external awards. Deadlines and eligibility for these recognition opportunities are tracked below.
If you plan to submit a nomination for a national or international honour or award, please notify Alex De Serrano (a.deserrano@utoronto.ca), Research Funding, Awards and Honours Officer, or Golnaz Farhat (golnaz.farhat@utoronto.ca), Strategic Research Development Officer, (416)-978-3488 in the Faculty of Medicine Research Office. The Research and Innovation Office provides support and oversight for major award nominations.
Temerty Medicine Research Excellence Award
The Office of the Vice Dean, Research and Innovation is pleased to announce a new internal award for faculty at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, the Temerty Medicine Research Excellence Award. Through a generous endowment from the Temerty family, this award will celebrate the innovative research and accomplishments of our faculty. Two prizes of $5,000 each will be awarded to successful applicants. In addition, the winning applicants will have their submission materials revised and submitted to an external award in the 12-month period following the award competition. The external award will be selected in consultation with the applicant and an awards review committee.
Deadline and Submission: To be considered for the award, applicants must complete the Temerty Faculty of Medicine Awards Dossier and submit it through this fillable form.

New Online Tool for Research and Innovation Honours & Awards
The Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation is pleased to introduce a new resource to help our community plan nominations for research and innovation honours and awards. Honours and awards are an important element of faculty recognition, offering national and international markers of excellence as well as career development and funding opportunities. The Honours and Awards Opportunities for Faculty database is an online tool on the Research and Innovation website that offers:
- Permanent entries for over 150 major national and international honour and award opportunities, with up-to-date confirmed or projected deadlines and nomination parameters
- Browsing and searching capabilities available to any user with a UTORid
- Filtering by keyword, discipline, career stage, and other parameters
- Guidelines to U of T’s internal processes for awards that require institutional nominations
- Information about previous U of T winners, where applicable
- Contact information for award coordinators within our academic divisions
Deadlines are projected up to two years into the future, aiding planning for opportunities that occur biennially or for which deadlines have recently passed
