Temerty Centre Speaker Series: Dr. William Tran (Oct. 2)

Title

Digital Pathology to Predict Treatment Response in High-Risk Breast Cancer

Project Description

This project comprised a dataset of high-resolution digital pathology images and clinical data from patients with high-risk breast cancer treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy. In this presentation, the dataset will support artificial intelligence research aimed at identifying imaging biomarkers, characterizing the tumour microenvironment, and evaluating features associated with treatment response. The project includes data from Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Technion Israel Institute of Technology and is intended to support the development and validation of computational approaches for breast cancer research.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Describe current breast cancer diagnosis and treatment;
  • Identify potential applications of artificial intelligence to digital pathology and breast cancer research;
  • Discuss approaches for using digital pathology features to characterize the tumour microenvironment and treatment response; and
  • Identify considerations for developing and validating artificial intelligence models using clinical and pathology data.
