T-CAIREM–C-AIM Collaborative Innovation Grants for AI In Healthcare (Deadline: Oct. 2)

Four grants of $50,000 each are available to researchers at the University of Toronto and Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Each grant will provide $25,000 CAD to a T-CAIREM co-Principal Investigator at the University of Toronto and $25,000 SGD to a C-AIM co-Principal Investigator at NTU. The grants will support interdisciplinary AI projects in healthcare, medical education, health systems, digital health, and related areas.

Temerty Centre for AI Research and Education in Medicine (T-CAIREM) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) are pleased to launch this joint collaborative innovation funding initiative to support interdisciplinary and international research projects in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for healthcare.

This initiative aims to foster impactful partnerships between Canadian and Singaporean researchers focused on advancing AI-driven healthcare innovation, education, implementation, and translational research.

The inaugural 2026 T-CAIREM–C-AIM Collaborative Innovation Grants for AI in Healthcare are intended to:

  • Support innovative and collaborative AI in healthcare research projects between T-CAIREM and NTU investigators.
  • Encourage interdisciplinary partnerships across medicine, engineering, computer science, public health, and health systems.
  • Accelerate translational and implementation-focused AI solutions with global relevance.
  • Promote international knowledge exchange and trainee engagement between Canada and Singapore.
  • Generate pilot data and collaborative outputs that position teams for larger international funding opportunities.

About the Collaborating Organizations

T-CAIREM is the Temerty Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Education in Medicine at the University of Toronto, based at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine. Its mission is to establish world-class educational programs in AI in medicine, fund interdisciplinary research, and create a secure data platform to house datasets for applied AI learning and research. Beyond education and research funding, it runs initiatives such as a repository of de-identified medical datasets (Health Data Nexus), an AI Learning Hub, conferences, and bootcamps that connect students, researchers, and clinicians across Canada and internationally.

The Centre of AI in Medicine (C-AIM) is a partnership between Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore), and the National Healthcare Group (NHG), spearheaded by NTU's Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and officially launched on 30 September 2024. It aims to bridge the gap between innovative AI technologies and their practical application in healthcare, focusing on four key clinical domains: mental health, elderly frailty, medical imaging, and cancer screening. The centre brings together over 100 researchers and clinicians, along with world-renowned academic and industry partners like the Yale School of Medicine and Olympus Singapore.
