Dr. Deanna Chaukos, is a Consultation/Liaison psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Hospital and an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. She completed her MD at the University of Toronto Temerty Faculty of Medicine, her residency in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School's Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean Hospital, and her fellowship in Consultation Liaison psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her clinical expertise includes providing psychiatric care for patients with medical complexities, and she teaches across the developmental continuum from the MD Program to subspecialty postgraduate programs. She is a dedicated educator and a recent recipient of the AFMC Young Educators Award.
Deanna is involved in educational scholarship that employs an adaptive expertise theoretical framework to examine how to effectively prepare medical learners for future uncertain practices, especially regarding how to handle ambiguity in the clinical care of complex patients. She is the Associate Program Director for the University of Toronto Psychiatry residency and leads portfolios including assessment, resident well-being, and resident leader mentorship.
